HANDS OFF! While conventional incandescent lamps can be handled with bare hands, halogen light bulbs should not. Since the quartz envelope, or bulb, of the lamp reaches high temperatures, the oils and salts from skin will deteriorate and weaken the bulb. If your hands should come in contact with the bulb, use a small amount of rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth to clean the lamp. Allow time for the bulb to dry before using.

This item is the Satco S4361 – a 100 watt, 120 volt, T4 clear halogen bulb. This product has a length of 3.38″ and offers 1,600 lumens with an average rated life of 2,000 hours. Halogen lamps deliver a crisp, white light. Since halogens are incandescent lamps, their CRI of 100 will render colors accurately and match the color temperature of other light sources in the 2900K range.

While Halogen lamps can be dimmed with a conventional incandescent dimmer, using a dimmer may have a negative impact on the lamps. When dimming, standard incandescent lights benefit from the lower voltage applied to the filament. However, halogen lamp filaments require higher temperatures (at least 250 degrees Celsius) to function properly. In the case of dimming a halogen lamp, the filament may not reach the necessary temperature, and not work. Keep in mind that dimming a halogen lamp for extended periods may result in a blackened inside wall of the bulb, leading to reduced light output and lifespan. To prevent this, periodically run the lamp without dimming to allow the halogen to clean the inside of the bulb.
